With the amount of tools that organizations are integrating into their engineering stack, engineers are spending more time context-switching across custom tools and piecing together information from different sources. To combat this, we created a developer homepage at Cortex that we use daily as engineers. In this talk, we’ll dive into the design and implementation process of building our developer homepage. We’ll discuss the most useful features and the technical challenges associated with building them. We’ll get into specifics ranging from constructing a unified model of “ownership” to avoiding getting rate limited by 3rd party APIs.
Key discussion points
- Why did we need a developer homepage?
- What were the key considerations?
- What technical challenges needed to be solved?
